Who We Are

AGIP is a global, intergenerational, feminist coalition with members working with and for adolescent girls across advocacy, research, and at community level. We envision a world where girls have the voice, choice, and agency to determine their own futures, supported by holistic investment that responds to the full complexity of girls’ lives and needs.

Our Founding Story

AGIP was founded in 2020 to meet a critical gap in global development: meaningful, coordinated investment in adolescent girls. Launched during a moment of heightened momentum for gender equality, AGIP brought together mission-aligned organisations committed to shifting power to adolescent girls and influencing policy and funding with evidence and accountability.

From 2021 through 2024, AGIP grew into a recognised coalition, co-creating girl-led advocacy spaces, launching the Accountability Champions Platform, and modelling best practice in safeguarding.

OUR VISION

A world where girls have the voice, choice, and agency to determine their own futures, supported by holistic investment that responds to the full complexity of girls’ lives and needs.

OUR MISSION

To drive political commitment, accountability, and evidence-informed investment to create positive impact for adolescent girls in all their diversity.

Why We Exist

Addressing the critical gaps in support for adolescent girls worldwide

Adolescent girls make up one of the most marginalised and under-represented demographics worldwide. Often adolescent girls’ unique needs are neither recognised by children’s nor women’s movements.Adolescence is a crucial development stage, yet girls across the globe face great barriers rooted in oppressive social norms and cultural stereotypes. We know that failure to appropriately invest in adolescent girls – particularly the most marginalised – is a threat to girls’ healthy, productive lives, and undermines progress on gender equality.
1

Global Threats

Around the world, the marginalisation faced by adolescent girls is increased by a rise in polarization, shrinking civic space, sector defunding, and accelerating rollback on rights.

🌍
2

Lack of Accountability

Global processes lack formal accountability or reporting mechanisms that meaningfully include girls, and many girl-targeted investments do not reach girls directly.

📊
3

Evidence Gaps

Robust evidence is not readily available and existing evidence is not effectively used to drive impact for adolescent girls or made accessible to the girls themselves.
