Facilitated by young people, the session on 19 July 2023 showcased approaches to achieving accountability for adolescent girls and young women in all their diversity. AGIP heard from diverse stakeholders on challenges, solutions, and commitments which advance power being shifted to adolescent girls – nothing about them, without them.

On 18 July 2023, through an intergenerational dialogue hosted by adolescent girls, AGIP brought together adolescent girls, young feminist-led organisations, donors, researchers, and intermediary civil society organisations to identify challenges, showcase innovative solutions, and workshop what needs to shift to make funding more accessible for adolescent girls and young feminist-led initiatives.

This International Women’s Day, in 2023, gender equality is still a long way off. And adolescent girls – although making up 33% of the global female population – are still one of the most marginalised demographics globally. To realise a world in which adolescent girls have the voice, choice, and agency to determine their own futures, we must support and resource adolescent girls’ unique needs.

On 11th October 2022, AGIP hosted our first Community of Practice event: ‘Safeguarding for meaningful engagement with adolescent girls’. This took place during the the 24-Hour Virtual Forum organised by Plan International to celebrate International Day of the Girl 2022. 

On 7^th July 2022, the Adolescent Girls Investment Plan (AGIP) and Plan International, together with adolescent and youth leaders, hosted an intergenerational dialogue with Action Coalition leaders titled ‘Generation Equality Forum, One Year On: Shifting Power and Resources to Adolescent Girls and Youth-led Organisations’.

On 16 March 2022, AGIP, Ireland, and Purposeful co-hosted a side event during the 66th Commission on the Status of Women (CSW66) entitled ‘Generation Equality Accountability for Adolescent Girls’. This event was part of the official program of 24h Around-The-Clock Generation Equality at CSW66.

On the margins of UNGA75, The Adolescent Girls Investment Plan (AGIP), in collaboration with FEMNET, ARROW, Care International, Breakthrough and ABAAD Resource Centre for Gender Equality, alongside the Kenyan, Irish, Mexican, French, and Canadian governments and the Beijing + 25 Youth Taskforce hosted a discussion with seven girl advocates from Guatemala, India, Indonesia, Lebanon, Palestine, Nicaragua and Zambia.

On 1st July 2021, adolescent girl leaders utilized this event to raise their concerns and share their aspirations about the inclusion of girl leaders beyond the Paris Forum, especially when it comes to their inclusion in the implementation and accountability of girl-centric commitments over the next five years. This event was entirely designed by a group of adolescent girl leaders with support from AGIP.
