‘Nothing about her without her’ is the motto here! We strive to walk the talk by ensuring that adolescent girls have a permanent seat at decision-making tables, and are supported in their engagements. We centre agency, well-being, autonomy, and safety. We do this together with adolescent girls as partners and collaborators, and we can support you in doing this well, too.

AGIP views Meaningful Girl and Youth Engagement (MGYE) as a dynamic process. We continuously strive to do better and have intentionally shifted our youth-engagement approach from consultation to co-creation. Safeguarding, co-creation, collective action, and capacity strengthening form the foundation of our collaboration efforts with adolescent girls. Together, we work to ensure that adolescent girls are on the agenda and at the table of key global advocacy and policy platforms, like Generation Equality Forum, to increase evidence-informed, holistic investments into their futures.

Safeguarding

We believe safeguarding is an opportunity to engage more meaningfully with young people – and we do not condone safeguarding as merely a tick-box exercise! Therefore, we regularly discuss and review our practices in discussion with adolescent girls, to ensure we understand what works and what doesn’t when it comes to accessible and comprehensive safeguarding. We actively support our young participants to strengthen their own capacities to navigate digital spaces in a more informed and safe manner. We enable an open exchange of relevant resources and best practices within and outside of AGIP.

You can find safeguarding resources developed by AGIP for meaningful engagement of adolescent girls. We are determined to ensure that adolescent participation is not only useful and fun, but also safe!
